Fitzgerald’s sad novel, The Great Gatsby, tells the story of a protagonist who can’t afford to spend his millions on true happiness. Jay Gatsby’s story is about a man who lives a fabricated lifestyle, living the “American Dream.” Gatsby had no idea what it meant, and he was not able to enjoy true happiness or peace-of-mind. Gatsby would do anything to make Daisy happy. Gatsby becomes obsessed with living the American Dream and soon realizes that wealth and lifestyle can not buy true happiness.

Jay Gatsby grew up in a very difficult time and has worked hard to achieve his American Dream. Gatsby is known for telling lies and saying things that were out of his control. Gatsby was a skeptic and the things he said about the “past” led to him getting into trouble that ultimately cost him his life. What is generational wealth? Gatsby claimed that his family had passed it on to him, but he was lying. He thought it was a smart idea to lie about his past, but eventually it would catch up with him. Gatsby had a difficult relationship with his parents. He decided to leave them and begin to create a plan for Daisy to return. Gatsby came from a poor family and were unsuccessful farm workers. This is why he started lying about his life. After Gatsby started telling lies so many times, the truth began to be obscured. This is how the big lie about money got started. Gatsby was involved in illegal alcohol sales and drug selling in Chicago. Gatsby had a habit of bootlegging, which is how he earned his wealth. Tom and Daisy were shocked to learn about Gatsby’s extravagant lifestyle of throwing large parties and enjoying a luxurious lifestyle. He was just a few years older than Daisy and Gatsby, and was about to enter World War I. He suddenly has all the money and it’s downhill from there on. Tom inherited his wealth. His wealth came from the past, with nice cars, big houses and lavish lifestyles. Gatsby had all he needed in life. Tom was able to see what Gatsby was doing. “It took Tom, who actually did the research to find out what Gatsby was doing to make him a liar. Tom recognized that Gatsby was untrustworthy and he had a strange past. Tom also noticed a pattern in his behavior and background. Tom had a meeting with Gatsby and he suspected that Gatsby was a bootlegger. Gatsby wasn’t born with the money his family gave him. He wanted a place where he could fit in. “Gatsby also claims he is the heir of wealthy Middle West residents who are all deceased now. I was raised in America. I was educated at Oxford. My ancestors are all from that area. It’s a tradition in my family. This was the beginning for Gatsby’s moral decline. Gatsby didn’t know that his life was gradually ending due to the lies and hoaxes that he concocted.

Gatsby has experienced a lot loneliness in his entire life. It is because he only had one goal in life and that was to be with Daisy forever. Gatsby created this lavish lifestyle to impress Daisy and make her his wife. He never sat down at any of his extravagant parties. Gatsby came to Daisy because of one and only one reason. Daisy, however, left behind all the effort he had put into achieving his extravagant lifestyle.

Gatsby was determined to live the American Dream. However, he lived a life of lies and fraud. Gatsby wasted a lot of effort and time trying to reunite Daisy with his family. Gatsby claimed to be old money but actually earned his living bootlegging. Gatsby was a millionaire and spent his money on extravagant parties in an effort to impress Daisy. Jay Gatsby is just a façade to his wealthy lifestyle. Gatsby was the result of dreams of James Gatz, who hoped to become a rich man. The novel depicts a society that is in decline morally. Living life to get cheap thrills, or pretending to be someone you are not is going to make you miserable will all lead to a downward spiral. George Wilson murdered Gatsby because he was trying to live a lie-filled life. Gatsby becomes obsessed with the American Dream and soon realizes that he can’t afford true happiness.
